A couple of deep breaths.
1) You running Etch or Sarge? You'll need Etch, since MediaWiki wasn't considered to be stable enough when Sarge was out. If you're using Sarge, it won't show up anywhere from apt-get or aptitude unless you set your packages to include Etch - in which case you may as well upgrade your entire dist.
2) The package is called "mediawiki"; search for that in Etch, and it'll come up. Installation was reasonably easy for me, once I finished upgrading the entire damned distribution so that the thing was supported.

Who do you think you are? If you'd stopped winning, you could have been the Biggest Loser, if you gave up, you could have been a Survivor, if you'd stopped reading Orwell, you could have been on Big Brother!
you better believe it xact you whore
on a serious note though, apt is pretty fucking leet, as is portage in gentoo but if you have not used bsd for a server, and found out how fucking amazing ports is, atleast try it. once. I set up a server for a high hit sms gateway website, and didnt even check the fucker for 12 months, yet still got my monthly commission.
bsd is the shit for servers. not a good desktop though.
I mean what do I know, only been doing unix for... 10 years.
