So, the filter at work decides that any thread / reply with a linked image must be pr[zero]n.

It's not easy to view the forum, that being the case.

-Do you have access to firefox?
-Are you able to run putty?

Obviously I can't provide a link to putty in a straightforward manner, but if you answer "yes" to either of these, I'll run you through a process of circumventing your filter.

No access to firefox and not sure about putty.

Worried that tech services will see issues with 'net usage if "hidemyass" is used. :(
It might give them cause to check how and when peripheral 'net usage occurs.

If you're not a prolific net user, you could simply ask? It's not like checking the forums during lunch is considered unusual.

It's kind of odd that all the images are being marked as pr[pug.player.iq = 1 - 1]n.

This is not uncommon.

Tunneling is likely your only option; can you bring in a thumb drive?

Will post a step by step later if people want me to; otherwise it shouldn't be too hard to figure out through Googlage.

-You have to have access to an SSH server (linux is good, but can be set up on a Windows box at home if you have a little patience - it'll be SSHD on Cygwin).
-Bring FireFox and Putty into work on a thumb drive - if you install FF to the drive, you don't need to copy anything to your computer.
-You can use Putty as a proxy to connect to your SSH server. Because it's connecting via SSH the traffic isn't readable by the tech people at work. In fact, as long as you don't download like 5 gigs a day, they won't even notice a little tunnel traffic.
-Tell FireFox to use your Putty connection as a Socks proxy, and voila - you're browsing the web via your home connection.

Once it's set up, it's just a matter of starting Putty and logging in, then starting FF and away you go.
Who do you think you are? If you'd stopped winning, you could have been the Biggest Loser, if you gave up, you could have been a Survivor, if you'd stopped reading Orwell, you could have been on Big Brother!

It's honestly not that hard - 10-15 minutes, tops. And from then on, no time at all.

I used to do it at my old work, partly because I actually needed to - they were blocking blogs of developers relevant to my work (I could request for a page to be unbanned, but that'd take up to 2 days) - and partly because I thought the whole thing was fucking retarded.

The only reason those filters exist is to cover the asses of the management who want to be able to say "we did everything we could to stop him looking up pr0n".

Filters don't work by any definition of the word; it's just some legal bullshit.

On the subject of pron at the office... intellectual property theft, source code & non-competes have become increasingly newsworthy in the small world of quant hedge funds. How are theses related???

Mikhail Malyshev, the former head of Citadel’s high-frequency trading group (a top quant shop) jumped ship to start his own business, presumably using or improving some of the techniques at Citadel. Consequently, Citadel has sued him.

Malyshev's computer logs indicated that he performed iterative/scrubbing deletes on several portions of his hard drive before he left Citadel. Could he have been deleting source code that he had copied over to a thumb drive?

His defense? No I wasn't covering up the theft of valuable source code files... I was cleaning up all my pron so you guys wouldn't find out. Lol, right. But hey, you can't beat the pron defense!

Anyway, imagine having to testify that in court!

Dealbreaker
