...but not as crazy as the people commenting on that article.

You've really got the full gamut of ignorance there:
-The conspiracy theorist who actually listed Mercury and Venus as possible life supporting planets, and talks about antigravity like it's a consumer product in a tin.
-The guy who immediately consigns anything he doesn't understand into the hands of a higher power and then carries on without bothering to improve himself. Bonus points for stating that he hopes aliens will somehow save us.
-The climate change denialist. He gets bonus points for stating that the asteroid might "bounce off" a hurricane. Where did these people go to school?

LIGHTNING ROUND! "Underground Climate Proof Bunkers" is my new favourite thing to say.

-The climate change exaggerator: "OMG! WHY ARE WE EVEN BOTHERING TO EAT WHEN WE'LL ALL BE DEAD IN 10/20/30 YEARS TIME!"
-The guy who's bitter because we have an economy producing consumer items instead of anti-catastrophe stuff 100% of the time.
-The guy who says we shouldn't worry about it because who knows what might happen before then. But he'll bet it's bad things that happen.

Note that none of these people bothered to acknowledge that the chance of an impact - which wouldn't be a global catastrophe - is calculated to be 1 in 250,000.
Who do you think you are? If you'd stopped winning, you could have been the Biggest Loser, if you gave up, you could have been a Survivor, if you'd stopped reading Orwell, you could have been on Big Brother!
