Conroy and 7pm Project - Surprisingly not Fail

Post by Cartollomew » 26 Mar 2010, 15:56

Okay, I expected the 7pm report to apply the standard soft soap journalism I've been seeing lately. They actually did a pretty good job.

Conroy comes out with a few falsities from time to time - but by far the biggest indication of failure to understand the technology involved is this:
Conroy wrote:There is nothing special about the internet as a distribution platform.
Until politicians are able to understand, or at least acknowledge that this is patently false, we're not going to be able to make progress in this domain.

The internet is fundamentally different to most other distribution platforms.

Why? For starters, it's primarily an active medium rather than a passive, like television - you seek out content on the internet, it doesn't deliver content to you.
Who do you think you are? If you'd stopped winning, you could have been the Biggest Loser, if you gave up, you could have been a Survivor, if you'd stopped reading Orwell, you could have been on Big Brother!
