Pretty sure this video was shown at E3 and I saw it on a gaming site which was linked from slashdot.

I hope they don't fuck us around either. I've been a huge Mechwarrior fan, although for some reason I could never get into #2. I remember playing the original for hours at a time when I was a wee teenager. I still miss the Warhammer, but the fuckers stole it from Macross and Macross > Mechwarrior.

Closest you will get is the Mechwarrior: Living Legends total conversion mod for Crysis that has been in development for ages.
