Looking to sell the big gas guzzler and upgrade to a smaller car, if you have driven/own any of the cars below, let me know what you thought of them (2006-2008 models):

Yeah, atm the VW Polo is at the top of the list from some people I've asked that have tested most of those cars.

And to be honest, they are fucking cheap atm. IE!

For some reason I have an infatuation with the fucking hot orange XR5's, or a Blue XR4 (minus the wanker stripes)

I'd suggest a Mini over a BMW 1 series. Similar(ish) price point, but the Mini is 'way' more fun to drive. I didn't enjoy the Polo I've driven, but I don't think it was a GTI, so maybe it's a totally different experience. The downside of BMW/Mini's is the maintenance is painfully expensive (if infrequent).

Spend a day going to the dealers and driving a brand new version of each car in my opinion. T'will be the best comparison.

I presume the GTI would be a lot more enjoyable to drive than the standard Polo.
