Re: A step in the right direction
I think he's just looking for more votes. It's actually likely to cost his approval overall, but he's shooting to retain the youth vote. I can't imagine large tracts of enthused 18-25s coming out to vote for Romney, but the real risk is that the people who voted for him in 2008 will be too jaded to...

Microaggressions in Japan

Linked to me by a friend who has spent the last 7-8 years in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Interesting, and not something often explicitly spoken about (in my experience).

Re: An interesting read
I'm still skeptical that art assets would be more expensive than dev and testing for the complications he puts forward. Art is a relatively easy thing to budget and time manage - compared to development and quality control. For a well built piece of software, you're looking at at least 2-4 times the...

Re: An interesting read
Hmm. I broadly agree with the idea that these tropes have become over common; but I disagree with the idea that the suggested remedies are cheaper than the poison. The assumption in the article is that the rising costs of games can be curtailed if developers stop focusing on making the games look so...

Re: HDMI Cable - Worlds Most Expensive!
Oh FFS. Up there with the silver speaker cable at $300 a meter and the wooden amplifier volume knob ("for a warmer tone!") at $400. People don't seem to get that with digital cables, if you're getting a signal, and it's all there (no tearing or blocky bits), then that's it - that's as good as it get...

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/04/03/romney-obama-wants-to-establish-a-religion-called-secularism/ Those of us who are people of faith recognize this is — an attack on one religion is an attack on all religion. Oh good - then since you claim secularism is now a religion, are you going to stop attac...

Personally, I can't stand the show, but I can understand that some people have a fascination with seeing the stupid fighting in public.

Re: Michael Bay - Raping Your Childhood Again
I remember being really into TMNT when I was younger, too. That being said, I have no idea what my reaction would be if I watched it today. Probably something along the lines of "WTF was I thinking!?" It's pretty bad. But the cartoon reboot from a few years ago is even worse. Speaking of WTF was I ...
